Photos of Ayutthaya near Bangkok
Ayutthaya is a small city near Bangkok with amazing temple complex. You can find here few interesting temples and among them Wat Yai Chai Mongko, Wat Ratchaburana, Wat Mahathat and Wat Phanan Choeng. All those temples are of course Buddhist temples with a lot of statues of Buddha on their grounds. You can see all the temples in the photos of Ayutthaya above.
My favorite temple – Wat Mahathat
My favorite temple in Ayutthaya in Thailand is Wat Mahathat. It is the temple, where Tree of the Buddha is. This place is also known as the Buddha Tree and it looks like heart-tree, the weirwood tree in the godswood of Winterfell from the Game of Thrones. It looks like that tree with face carved on it, the only difference is, that in Ayutthaya this face is not carved in the tree. One might wander how did it happen? It was once a statue of Buddha, but tree grew up around it and the only part of the statue visible is the face of the Buddha looking out from the trunk of the tree. It really looks amazing and it’s one of the places worth seeing if you are in Bangkok or Ayutthaya.

Another cool place in Ayutthaya is the floating market. After visiting the temples it might be worth to go there and eat some delicious food in this unique place. So summarizing I think Ayutthaya is a great place for a short trip from Bangkok. You can spend a day or two there, wandering around the temples, enjoying peaceful and relaxed atmosphere of the town.
