One day in Krabi in Thailand
After volunteering in Ban Chang, the time has come to move on. First I had to get to the south of Thailand, to the Krabi town, where I had a scheduled flight to Malaysian island – Penang. Bangkok is the central point of Thailand, you can get anywhere from here, so I at first I had to get from Banchang to Bangkok. As soon as I got there, I went directly to Khaosan Road, where you can find a lot of travel agencies. I picked a random travel agency and booked a VIP bus ticket for the evening, left my backpack at there and went to visit my favorite places in this area.
Few hours later I came back to the travel agency to get my backpack and a moment later, some Thai woman appeared. She was supposed to take me and other passengers to the place from where the bus will pick us, so we all followed her and after a few minutes of walking along the dark alleys, we got to the main road, where we had to wait for the bus.
Finally a bus appeared and we set off, but fifteen minutes later the bus stopped. No one in the bus knew, why are we having this over 20 minute stop, so finally I’ve decided to go and find out what’s happening. Turns out the driver had a dinner meeting with his friends and since no one told us, we were sitting in a bus like idiots. The driver just finished his dinner, so now it was too late to grab something to eat. This is Asia!
Unlucky incident in Thailand
When I got into my room in Krabi, I started unpacking my backpack and when I got to the bottom of it, a thought „Oh, Fuck!”, appeared in my mind. Cash, which I had hidden at the bottom of the backpack for emergency have disappeared. Some of my stuff looked like it was thrown out on the dirty floor, so I have a theory of what happened. While we were sleeping in the bus, driver’s assistant was sitting below the bus with our luggage, looking through our stuff and searching for valuables and cash. Of course I can’t prove it, so the cash is gone. I had an expensive lesson, but I’ve learned on my mistakes. From now on I’ll keep all the money always with me during travel! It was only cash, the life goes on and travel continues.
I rented a room in Good Dream Guesthouse – room was clean and big, and of course it was cheap, as it cost me only about 180 Baht. Of course, I had to share a bathroom, but it was in very good condition, really clean. With a pure heart I can recommend this place – cheap, clean, comfortable. After I checked in, I went out to explore the area and look for something to eat. After several minutes of walk, I’ve noticed a banner — Birthday of the King, vegetarian food today for free! Of course, I wouldn’t be myself, if I didn’t use the chance to get free food. I got myself a plate of rice, then a lady at the counter put on my plate a little bit of each dish. Some of these dishes were delicious and only one of them was really horrible – it was dish with some herb, which I hate. Drinks were free as well, so lunch cost me in total 0 Baht! Isn’t that awesome?
With a full belly I went for a walk. Walking along the streets of Krabi. Suddenly I couldn’t believe my eyes – in the distance I’ve noticed elephants. When I got closer it turned out, those are only elephant statues. Walking further I got to the White Temple in Krabi. Unfortunately I do not know the history behind it, but apparently one picture is worth a thousand words, and below you can see three photos taken in the temple.

After visiting the temple, I went to the beach, and I saw over there small crabs with one huge claw. I have no idea if it’s just a species of crab, all of them have lost some claws as a result of the fighting, or second claw didn’t develop yet? It’s hard to say. In front of the beach is the sculpture showing the crabs, which is the symbol of the city.
