Banchang Seafood Festival in Thailand
Finally I arrived to Banchang, where I was going to volunteer – teach 8 year old boy. It was my first volunteering experience and my first teaching experience and I loved it. I really enjoyed my stay there and I plan to volunteer whenever I have a chance to do so.
I was lucky, cause few days after my arrival to Banchang, the annual Banchang Seafood Festival began. Fortune was once again in my favor. Banchang is a small town, about 30 minutes south of Pattaya. During my stay in Banchang, I visited the festival every day and every day I tried something new – crabs, squids, mussels, oysters, cockles, shrimps and a lot of seafood, that I am unable to name. Of course, except seafood there was a lot of various Thai and foreign food available. One of my favorite foreign dishes was Japanese dish called Gyoza. Among my favorite dishes were fried seafood and glass noodles with vegetables and large shrimps. Except dishes I already mentioned, you could find there whole squid skewers, roasted chestnuts, fish cakes and many other exotic dishes. Except food, you could find there also cheap clothes, shoes or even animals – bunnies dressed in cute clothes.
Really Fresh Thai Seafood
When you approach to the stand with food, you have to select what would you like to eat – for example crabs, and selected food is being prepared in front of your eyes. Once I wasn’t lucky, I ordered mussels, lady put them into the jar with water to prepare them. I suppose water wasn’t hot enough, cause when I finally started eating them, they were still raw… Blah! When you already have enough food, you can sit in front of the stage, where you can enjoy performances of Thai singers accompanied by beautiful Thai dancers.
